Went to El Salvador last july augest for a little over a week. We stayed with some connections we got through dream surf travel. Everything went great from booking to flight to scoring perfect right hand point breaks every day. We surfed in "crowds" 10 ppl out and some spot with no one out. It is a good vibe down there, the locals are cool, especially if your with someone they know. our guide was cebolla from quiver surf. We stayed at one of his houses with a point break in view, a pool, and our own cook/maid (maria) she made everything more comfortable for us. El Salvador is definetly doable on your own, but a guide makes life much easier and helps out the local community.
